Libby Newman|Executive Director
BBus, FFin, CPA
Libby leads the Manager Research team who collectively cover a diverse range of unlisted and listed managed funds spanning global and domestic equities, fixed interest, infrastructure, property, alternatives and multi-asset strategies. Prior to her appointment to this role in January 2018, Libby was General Manager, Income and Multi-Asset. Libby has more than 25 years experience in funds management and fund research and has been involved in research of fixed income and multi-asset funds since joining Lonsec in 2007 with primary focus on fixed income. Libby also serves on the Lonsec Investment Committee and Manager Selection Committee which meet quarterly to consider asset allocation and manager selection in model portfolios.
Prior to Lonsec, Libby spent 10 years as part of the fixed interest team managing Suncorp’s insurance mandates. She also has experience in middle office, operations and investment performance systems testing and risk management at Abbey National (London), DST International (London) and boutique credit arbitrage manager Artesian (Melbourne).
Peter Green|Head of Listed Products Research
BCom, BA, CA
Peter joined Lonsec in 2008 and is the General Manager Equities. In this role, Peter is responsible for managing research across a range of sectors. Prior to joining the managed funds team in mid-2012, Peter worked as a Senior Investment Analyst for both Lonsec’s equities research and direct property teams.
Before Lonsec, Peter worked as a Development Analyst/Senior Property Accountant for the Centro Properties Group, where his main role was providing investment analysis and budgeting/forecasting capabilities to the Australian retail property team. He originally worked for Andersen/Ernst & Young as an external audit senior as well as spending two years in the United Kingdom in various accounting roles.
Rui Fernandes|Co-Head of Manager Research
BEc, GradDipAppFin, CFA
Rui joined Lonsec in January 2008 and is currently responsible for the firm’s product research and team. Prior to his appointment to this role in November 2018, Rui had been the lead analyst for global equities strategies (Developed Markets and ACWI) and had worked across a range of sectors.
Before joining Lonsec, Rui had a variety of investment research and analytical roles in the finance industry at firms such as Aviva Research, the Australian Prudential Regulation Authority and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Rui has worked in the finance industry since 2001.
Deanne Baker|Co-Head of Manager Research
Deanne joined Lonsec Research in July 2007 and holds over 19 years’ experience in managed funds research and portfolio management. As Co-Head of Manager Research, Deanne is responsible for the quality and suitability of Lonsec’s managed funds research, overseeing an award-winning team of analysts. Deanne is a member of the Lonsec Asset Allocation Committee which meets at least quarterly to consider asset allocation. Prior to joining Lonsec, Deanne spent seven years with Invesco, where she worked as an Investment Analyst and later, Assistant Investment Manager, responsible for multi-asset class and structured portfolios. Deanne has also previously held roles at Barclays Stockbrokers and Legal and General Investment Management in the UK.
Jude McDonnell|Head of Income & Multi Asset
Jude joined Lonsec in February 2015. Jude is the lead analyst across Global and Domestic Fixed Interest and also works on the Multi Asset sector with her primary responsibility being the preparation of detailed research reports. Jude has 15 years of experience working within financial services.
Her most recent prior role of more than six years was with Mercer Investments where she was responsible for providing investment consulting services to institutional clients in the Superannuation, Insurance and Endowment and Foundation space. Jude’s other work history includes roles with Macquarie Bank, Perennial Investment Partners, DST International, and Bank of New York Mellon (London).
Shailesh Jain|Head of Australian Equities Funds Research

Shailesh joined Lonsec in 2008 and works as a Senior Investment Analyst within the managed funds research team. Shailesh is responsible for leading the research effort across the Australian equities and small companies, global emerging markets and responsible investment sectors.
Shailesh has covered funds in most major sectors since joining Lonsec, including global equities, fixed income and multi-assets. Prior to Lonsec, Shailesh spent four years as a Credit Analyst at National Australia Bank where he was responsible for performing analytical review of financial statements and drafting credit memorandum.
Tony Adams|Head of Sustainable Investment Research
Tony joined Lonsec in March 2019 and is currently responsible for the responsible investment subsectors across various equity teams as well broad oversight of the assessment of ethical, ESG and impact capabilities across managers.
Prior to joining Lonsec, Tony has had 30 years’ experience in global fixed interest markets, most recently as Head of Global Fixed Interest and Credit at Colonial First State Global Asset Management, where he developed the firm’s global credit capability and oversaw the implementation of ESG across portfolios. Previous roles included Senior Portfolio Manager at Westpac Investment Management and Balance Sheet Manager at NSW Treasury Corporation.
Robyn Bayliss|Head of Research Operations
Robyn joined Lonsec in January 2019 to lead the Operations and Data Analytics Team responsible for the management and ongoing development of Lonsec’s quantitative tools and data processes. Robyn is charged with driving continuous improvement and managing change across the Lonsec Research business, working closely with IT and other Lonsec business units as a business partner to ensure that all process, data and product initiatives are aligned with the strategic aims of the group.
Prior to joining Lonsec, Robyn implemented and managed the PMO for Victorian Funds Management Corporation (VFMC) and was responsible for the delivery of the 2020 Strategic Plan and transition of custodian. Robyn’s background includes roles as Project Manager, Senior Business Analyst and Operations Manager in the finance and superannuation industry.
Kevin Prosser|Research Manager, Direct Assets

Kevin joined Lonsec in 2003 and has overall responsibility for research into unlisted direct assets, including direct property syndicates and direct infrastructure funds.
Prior to Lonsec, he was an Analyst and Investment Advisor with E. L. & C. Baillieu Stockbroking, Research Manager with G. K. Goh Stockbrokers in Kuala Lumpur and a Research Analyst with McIntosh Securities and AMP.
Simone Gavin|Senior Investment Analyst (Sector Lead Global Emerging Markets)
Simone joined Lonsec in February 2013 as a Senior Investment Analyst within the managed funds research team. Simone is involved in the review of funds across all sectors, with primary focus in Australian equities, global equities, and global emerging markets.
Prior to Lonsec, Simone spent 13 years working within financial services, her experience including more than four years with Standard and Poor’s managed funds research team. Simone also spent two years with Frontier Investment Consulting as an analyst working across various sectors and clients and five years with Towers Perrin including three years in the Netherlands.
Adrian Hoe|Senior Investment Analyst (Sector Lead – Global Equities)

Adrian joined Lonsec’s managed funds research team in November 2011 and is involved in the review of financial products across all sectors, with primary focus in Australian equities, Global equities and Alternatives.
He is also the sector lead for the Australian equities specialised sector. Prior to joining Lonsec, Adrian spent three years as a Research Analyst at IOOF where he was responsible for researching managed funds and providing investment consulting services.
Amy Ho|Senior Investment Analyst (Sector Lead Investment Bonds)
BCom, BBIS, CFA
Amy joined Lonsec’s managed fund research team in January 2012 and is responsible for undertaking managed fund research across a range of sectors.
Prior to joining Lonsec Amy worked as a Performance Analyst at Industry Superannuation Property Trust where she was responsible for performance reporting, attribution analysis and forecasting. She also held a position with JBWere in the Private Wealth Management division, where she was in charge of improving the systems and processes supporting the portfolio reporting service.
James Kirk|Senior Investment Analyst (Sector Lead Alternatives)
James joined Lonsec in April 2013 as a Graduate Investment Analyst within the managed funds research team. In this role, James is involved in the review of financial products across the global equities and the long/short equities sectors, with his primary responsibility being the preparation of detailed research reports.
James has completed his Honours in Finance degree alongside a double major in Finance and Financial Planning. Before joining Lonsec, James gained experience as an Investment Analyst within Dixon Advisory. James was responsible for implementing advice and producing equity and market commentary reports.
Prasanka Rajapaksha|Senior Investment Analyst (Sector Lead Income)

Prasanka joined Lonsec in May 2015 as an Investment Analyst to the managed funds research team. Prasanka is responsible for leading the research effort across Global and Domestic Fixed Income sectors and also undertakes research on the Multi-Asset sector.
Prior to joining Lonsec, Prasanka was a Senior Analyst/AVP at Fitch Ratings where his main responsibility was assigning credit ratings for banks and financial institutions. He also served five years at the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, initially as a bank analyst/regulator and later as a fixed income & forex dealer/analyst.
Hong Hon|Senior Investment Analyst

Hong joined Lonsec in April 2019 as a Senior Investment Analyst within the managed funds research team. In his role, Hong is involved in the review of financial products across a range of different sectors. His primary responsibility is the preparation of detailed research reports.
Hong graduated with a Master of Applied Finance from Macquarie University, Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and Advanced Diploma of Financial Services from Kaplan Education. Hong also holds the Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation and is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia (FINSIA).
Before joining Lonsec, Hong was a Paraplanning Team Leader at ANZ Financial Planning, Senior Paraplanner at Macquarie Private Wealth, Research Manager at Bendigo Financial Planning and Senior Investment Analyst at Sandhurst Trustees. More recently, Hong was at a financial technology (‘Fintech’) business where he was responsible for the business’ portfolio construction and investment governance framework.
Amy Li|Senior Investment Analyst
BEcon (Hons), MAppFin, CFA
Amy joined Lonsec in March 2018 as an Investment Analyst in the manager research team. She is primarily responsible for preparing research reports across a range of sectors. Sectors covered include fixed income, multi-asset, global listed infrastructure and A-REITs.
Prior to Lonsec, Amy was an economist for about a decade. Most recently she was an economist at NAB for over four years, responsible for monitoring and forecasting the Australian economy, while also working as NAB’s base metals analyst. Amy also held economist/policy analyst roles at QIC, Queensland Treasury, Queensland Department of Mines and Energy and UBS Investment Bank (Hong Kong). Amy graduated from the University of Queensland with first class honours in economics and is a CFA charterholder.
Mark Stephan|Senior Investment Analyst
Mark joined Lonsec in October 2015 as an Associate Investment Analyst within the managed funds research team and is involved in the review of financial products across a range of sectors, including Australian equities, global equities and global emerging markets. Mark holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance & Marketing) from the University of Melbourne, a Diploma of Financial Planning and has passed Level 1 of the CFA examination. Before joining Lonsec, Mark worked as an Associate Adviser at RI Advice Surrey Hills and more recently at Netwealth Investment & Superannuation.
Balraj Sokhi|Investment Analyst
BCom, AdvDipFP, DipFS(Fin. Markets), SMSF
Balraj joined Lonsec in September 2018 and works as an Investment Analyst responsible for managed funds research across a range of different sectors, with primary focus on property and infrastructure. His primary responsibility is the preparation of detailed research reports.
Prior to Lonsec, Balraj worked at ANZ for several years as a Financial Planner, and prior to that as a Foreign Exchange Dealer and Assistant Relationship Manager within ANZ’s Global Markets and Business Banking divisions respectively.
Balraj holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance & Management) from the University of Melbourne and has passed Level 1 of the CFA program.
Nathan Umapathy|Investment Analyst
Nathan joined Lonsec in June 2018 and works as an analyst within the Listed Products team. He previously worked as a Research Analyst at Bell Potter, covering both the Listed Investment Company and the Exchange Traded Fund sector. In that role, he was also responsible for authoring the highly regarded LIC Weekly and Quarterly reports, and involved in a number of capital raisings within the sector. Prior to that role, he worked as Assistant Analyst to the Head of Research at Bell Potter. Nathan holds a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Melbourne.
Sharmeel Suka|Investment Analyst
Sharmeel joined Lonsec in April 2016 and is involved in the review of financial products across a range of different sectors including global fixed interest, multi-asset, domestic fixed interest and global listed infrastructure. Sharmeel has over 4 years of experience working within financial services.
Prior to Lonsec, his most recent role was as an Investment Research Analyst at netwealth Investments where he was involved in the due diligence process for its platform investment menu. Sharmeel graduated from Monash University with a Master’s of Applied Finance in 2014, after completing a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne in 2012, and has passed Level 1 of the CFA examination.
Clinton Alexander|Investment Analyst
Clinton joined Lonsec in March 2017 as a Graduate Investment Analyst within the managed funds research team. In this role, Clinton’s main tasks will be to assist with the research into managed funds across a range of different sectors with his primary responsibility being the preparation of detailed research reports.
Clinton graduated with a Bachelor of Business (Accounting and Econometrics) and a Master of Banking and Finance from Monash University. Prior to joining Lonsec, Clinton was employed as Graduate Business Recovery and Insolvency Analyst with Pitcher Partners in Melbourne.
Scott Bohan|Investment Analyst
Scott joined Lonsec in June 2018 as an Investment Analyst within the managed funds research team. In this role, Scott’s main tasks are to assist with the research into managed funds across a range of different sectors with his primary responsibility being the preparation of detailed research reports.
Scott has passed level 2 of the CFA Program. Prior to joining Lonsec, Scott worked for several years at Russell Investments as a consultant to some of Russell’s largest superannuation and non-superannuation clients. Scott’s other work history includes completing the graduate program at the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
Matthew O'Neill|Investment Analyst
Matthew joined Lonsec in December 2015 as a Graduate Investment Analyst within the managed funds research team. In this role, Matt’s main tasks will be to assist with the research into managed funds across a range of different sectors with his primary responsibility being the preparation of detailed research reports. Matthew recently graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours (Finance & Economics) from the University of Melbourne and is currently studying for the CFA Level III examination in June 2018.
Geraldine Goh|Investment Analyst
Geraldine joined Lonsec in September 2016 as a Graduate Investment Analyst within the managed funds research team. Geraldine’s responsibilities include assisting with the research into managed funds across a range of different sectors with her primary responsibility being the preparation of detailed research reports. Geraldine graduated with Master of Finance and Bachelor of Business (Accountancy) both from RMIT, and is currently studying for the CFA Level 2 examinations.
Prior to joining Lonsec, Geraldine gained experience as a Money Market and FX Dealer for First Commercial Bank Ltd, Singapore Branch.
Chloe George|Investment Analyst
Chloe joined Lonsec in October 2016 as a Graduate Investment Analyst within the managed funds research team. In this role, Chloe’s main tasks have been to assist with the research into managed funds across a range of different sectors with her primary responsibility being the preparation of detailed research reports.
Chloe graduated with a Bachelor of Economics with Honours from La Trobe University, and is enrolled for the CFA Level 2 examination in June 2018. Prior to joining Lonsec, Chloe gained experience as an Implementation Specialist at IRESS and a Consultant for Capita Procurement Solutions in London.
Amber Sunil|Associate Investment Analyst

Amber joined Lonsec in April 2018 as an Associate Investment Analyst within the managed funds research team. In this role, Amber’s main tasks are to assist with the research into managed funds across a range of different sectors with her primary responsibility being the preparation of detailed research reports.
Amber has completed all three levels of CFA exam and is working towards her Charter. Prior to joining Lonsec, Amber worked at Netwealth as the Investor Services Officer in the operations department for few months. Amber’s other work history includes roles with a small dealer group, Investors Direct Financial Group, as an investment analyst. Amber also worked for a year as the research analyst in United Bank Limited in Pakistan before moving permanently to Australia.
Callum Yule|Associate Investment Analyst
Callum joined Lonsec in April 2018. Callum has a Bachelor of Applied Economics from Massey University in New Zealand and has passed two exams in the Chartered Financial Analyst programme. Prior to joining Lonsec, he had three years’ experience as a Graduate Investment Analyst/ Investment Advisor at the New Zealand Transport Agency developing and reviewing proposals for government infrastructure projects.
Joshua Nappa|Graduate Investment Analyst
Joshua joined Lonsec in June 2018 and is primarily involved in the review of financial products within the fixed income sector inclusive of domestic and global strategies.
Prior to joining Lonsec, Joshua was most recently a Portfolio Relationship Manager at Baillieu Holst whereby he was responsible for portfolio reconstruction for clients under an advice relationship with advisers. Joshua also gained further experience at Sornem Private Wealth, an independent boutique wealth management firm as a Portfolio Administrator, which saw him directly supporting advisers in the day to day management of their clients. Joshua graduated from RMIT University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Business (Economics and Finance) and has passed Level I of the CFA Program. Joshua is currently a CFA Level II candidate.
Bonnie Milne|Research Coordinator
Bonnie joined the Lonsec Research team in June 2013 and is responsible for managing the Data Portal (RFI questionnaires for Managers), Sector Research Plans and publishing our Manager Reviews. Bonnies key focus is liaising with Managers and Analysts to help the review process run as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
Bonnie's previous role was at Schiavello Hospital Solutions, focusing on hospital fit-outs. Bonnie has a strong background in stakeholder management and client services.

Danial Moradi|Portfolio Manager – Listed Products

Danial Joined Lonsec in 2007 and is currently responsible for the management of Lonsec’s listed model portfolios. As a member of Lonsec’s Asset allocation, Manger section and Direct Equity Investment Committees, Danial provides advice and input into model portfolio construction and asset allocation decisions. Previously at Lonsec, as a senior equities analyst, Danial was responsible for conducting in-depth research coverage on listed companies from a wide range of sectors, in addition to the development and oversight of Lonsec’s ASX200 equities research and Listed Income research offering. Danial has over 16 years’ experience in trading, research and analysis of local and international equity and derivative markets.

Ross Bird|Equities Strategist
Ross re-joined Lonsec in June 2013 developing specialised portfolios for wholesale clients. Ross is a member of Lonsec’s Portfolio Services Investment Committee that oversees the management and Investment strategies of Lonsec’s direct equity model portfolios.
Ross has 27 years’ experience in Banking, Funds Management and Stockbroking research and portfolio management. Previously, Ross held Strategist roles at Lonsec, Aegis Equities, Morningstar and Bellwether. Prior to this, Ross was a Resources Analyst at National Mutual (now AXA/AMP) for 10 years.
Chad Troja|Senior Equities Analyst

Chad joined Lonsec at the end of 2017 from Catholic Church Asset Mgt where he was an Investment Analyst covering Australian Equities and Global Fund Manager research. Prior to this Chad spent 9 years at Perennial Investments Partners where he was part of the Global Equities team covering Consumers, Industrials and Health, whilst also involved in FX execution.
With over 15 years funds management experience previous organisations include Invesco, Equity Trustees and Foreign & Colonial (UK). Chad covers Communications, Financials, Health and Tech.
Luke Conca|Equities Analyst
Luke joined Lonsec in May 2019. Prior to this Luke was an Investment analyst at Beulah Capital. Where he was responsible for Australian equities analysis, portfolio management and investment platform execution. Luke worked on equities strategies ranging from growth, yield, and income with options, to a specialised takeover target portfolio. He also ensure mandate adherence and made significant contributions to valuation, portfolio changes, performance reporting, quarterly presentations and fact sheets.
Jack Dunn|Associate Equites Analyst

Jack joined Lonsec in January 2019. Prior to joining Lonsec, Jack spent almost four years at First Financial where he was an Associate Advisor. One area of focus was consumer services sector on the Approved Product list.

Joshin joined Lonsec in March 2019. Prior to joining Lonsec, Joshin gained experience at Sequoia Financial Group and Lodge Partners.

Tom Akay|Relationship Manager, Fund Managers
Hannah Bevan|Client Services and Product Manager
Hannah joined the Lonsec team in 2015 as the Client Services and Training Manager. She is responsible for overseeing the client relationships for Lonsec’s retail and institutional clients, offering a high level of support and guidance for users of Lonsec’s online tools. In addition, Hannah works on strategic initiatives to strengthen our services to meet the changing needs of our clients.
Prior to joining Lonsec, Hannah was the Client Services and Training Manager at van Eyk Research. Before moving to Sydney, Hannah held client service and investment operations roles at BNP Paribas and other financial firms in the UK and has 11 years of industry experience.
Tracey Barden|Senior Client Relations & Training Consultant
Tracey joined the Lonsec team in April 2015 and is responsible for managing Lonsec’s retail and institutional client relationships, and building the capabilities of iRate users through training and ongoing support. Tracey’s key focus is on enhancing the user experience of iRate clients and maximising the value of their package through on-site demonstrations, online webinars, and phone and email support. Prior to joining Lonsec, Tracey held various other roles in the financial services industry, including with Macquarie Group and ING Direct when she first came to Australia in 2013. Tracey has 12 years of client service experience and rapport building with clients, including eight years in Dublin, Ireland working in retail banking for Allied Irish Bank, before moving to Brown Brothers Harriman as a client service specialist in fund administration.

Colin Chen|Senior Quantitative Research Analyst

Colin joined Lonsec in October 2015 within the Research Analytics team. Colin provides ongoing quantitative support to the managed fund and direct equities research teams. His main responsibilities include the maintenance and application of research models, data integrity and external client support. Colin completed his studies at RMIT University with first class Honours and Doctorate degrees both in Mathematics.
Prior to joining Lonsec, Colin was employed by RMIT as a research assistant for the school of Mathematical and Geospatial Science. Colin has also worked as a consultant dealing with Econometric and Statistical projects.
Kieran Basoor|Associate Data Analyst
Kieran joined Lonsec in January 2019 as a Data Analyst within the Research Analytics team to support the maintenance and development of Lonsec platforms and data models. Kieran works closely with the Data Portal and assists with external client requests and communication. Kieran completed his Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Finance) at Monash University and has passed Level 1 of the CFA Program. Kieran is currently a candidate for CFA Level 2.
Prior to joining Lonsec, Kieran worked at the Australian Bureau of Statistics as a Research Analyst. Kieran worked as part of the Statistical Business Transformation Program to standardise metadata, create guidelines and worked with technical development teams to enhance IT infrastructure.
Chris Liu|Associate Data Analyst
Chris joined Lonsec in May 2019 as a Data Analyst within the research team. Chris assists in the maintenance of research models and tools, data integrity and client support.
Chris completed his studies at The University of Melbourne and is a provisional Chartered Accountants member. Prior to joining Lonsec, Chris has worked within in public practice accounting specialising in tax and consulting, as well as investment operations at Warakirri Asset Management and Vanguard Investments Australia where he led various process improvement initiatives.
